Privacy Policy

What BookWorld collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Last updated 2026-08-23

Hygr ("we", "us") operates BookWorld: Novels and Stories. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

When you create a reader account. Your email address, your display name, and — if you sign in with Google — the account identifier and profile picture Google returns to us. We never receive your Google password.

When you read. Which chapters you open, where you stopped in each one, how long you spend reading each day, and which novels you save to your library. This is what powers your bookshelf, the "continue reading" position, and the daily reading-time rewards.

When you spend or earn. Your coin and library-pass balances, every chapter unlock and how it was paid for (coins, a library pass, a rewarded ad, or a premium subscription), reward claims, and a record of any coin pack purchased.

When you write. Ratings, reviews and comments you post, which are shown publicly alongside your display name.

Automatically. Basic request information such as your IP address, used to keep the service working and to limit abuse.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not use your reading history for advertising targeting.
  • We do not store card details. Payment, when enabled, is handled by a payment processor, and we keep only the record that a purchase happened.

Why we are allowed to hold it

We process your data to provide the service you asked for (your account, your library, your unlocks), to meet our legal obligations around records of transactions, and — for basic security logging — because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the platform working.

Cookies

We set one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Reading preferences such as font size and theme are stored in your browser and never sent to us. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Who else sees your data

  • Google, if you choose to sign in with it.
  • Our hosting and database providers, who store the data on our behalf.
  • Authors, who can see the ratings and comments left on their own books, under the display name you post with. Authors never see your email address.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account exists. Purchase and unlock records are kept afterwards where we need them for accounting. Delete your account and we remove your profile, library, reading history and comments.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its contents. Write to solutions@hygr.dev and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

BookWorld is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change, and the date below will change with it. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
